Packed Church for Songs of Praise

Updated: Jul 23

A full church received a warm welcome from Judy on Sunday 20th July 2025. It was standing room only in St. Stephen’s Church, Nanstallon for a Songs of Praise service.

Praise was the evening’s theme and Bible passages, read by Marion, Brenda and Tony, were full of praise to God. Robert accompanied the congregational singing on the organ and shared a spoken reflection. Attendees were transported back to the 6th century as Robert spoke of popes, untimely deaths and what is allegedly the birth of congregational singing in the Church.

The evening of song drew people together from the villages of Nanstallon, Lanivet, St. Tudy and Delabole, Lanhydrock and the towns of Liskeard and Bodmin. Well established friends from the Methodist and Anglican traditions warmly greeted one another and new friendships were forged.

Volunteers were thanked for a variety of maintenance and decorative tasks recently undertaken. The stained-glass windows sparkled, flowers adorned each window ledge, and the garden looked stunning.

Judy said: "It is amazing to have the church full. It's been a while since we haven't had enough hymn books for everyone! The friendly atmosphere, sound of the organ and the singing made the service into a celebration."
