Busking at Bodmin Riding & Heritage festival

Bodmin Way Community Choir was delighted to open the afternoon's entertainment on Saturday 4 July, performing on the steps of Chapel An Gansblydhen, as part of Bodmin Riding & Heritage Festival celebrations 2026.
A highlight of the performance was singing alongside pupils from St Petroc's Primary School. Together they performed a joyful Gospel Medley, combining both singing and signing, followed by Petroc's Song, In the Jungle from The Lion King, and the much-loved Cornwall My Home.
The choir then continued with songs from its summer repertoire, including Who Will Buy?, All You Need Is Love, Here Comes the Sun, Singin' in the Rain, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, and finished with a rousing rendition of Sing It Home.
The choir thoroughly enjoyed its busking session and was overjoyed to see so many people watch and even better – join in!
One choir member said:
“It was wonderful to perform as part of such a vibrant community event, and having an appreciative audience who cheered, clapped and sang along made the afternoon even more special. Thank you to everyone who stopped to listen and support us.”
The choir is looking forward to participating in next year’s Bodmin Riding & Heritage Festival.
As the choir set up for the busking session, a model reliquary—representing the casket that once housed the bones of St Petroc, accompanied by the Ragadaziow and Bodmin's Beast, was carried along Fore Street. The town also buzzed earlier in the day as Bodmin’s banners, depicting the town’s medieval guilds, were proudly paraded through the town by KBSK.
Visitors can still see the original twelfth century reliquary in St Petroc's Church, along with the beautifully painted saints of the guilds on the reredos behind the main altar.
Specially brewed Bodmin Riding Ale was a must for many!
About the choir
Bodmin Way Community Choir is for all ages and abilities and for all who love to sing. Join us for Spring Sing, Summer Singing, and Autumn Song, on Wednesdays 5pm to 6pm in St Petroc’s Parish Centre (opposite the church).
Autumn Song will commence on Wednesday 7 October and everyone is welcome.
