Bodmin Way Community Choir’s Christmas Performances 2025

Updated: 3 days ago

Bodmin Lights Up

The choir was delighted to be part of Bodmin’s festive welcome at the annual Bodmin Lights Up event on the last Friday of November. Parading behind members of Bodmin Town Band, alongside schools and families, was a highlight. Another special moment was singing a festive song with Belt it Out Bodmin Community Choir on the steps of Shire Hall.

This year’s switch-on theme was The Twelve Days of Christmas, so the famous carol simply had to be sung, with everyone gathered around the tree joining in.

Perhaps the most joyful moment of all was singing Silent Night with Makaton signing, creating a truly inclusive and moving experience.

Carol Singing in Fore Street

The choir joined Bodmin Methodist Church to sing carols on a Saturday morning in December. Bodmin’s mayor and deputy mayor added to the occasion by joining in. Donations from passers-by, along with contributions made for mince pies and hot drinks, were all given to the charity Action for Children.

St Petroc’s Church Christmas Market

After refreshments at the Methodist Church, choir members headed straight to St Petroc’s Church to perform a half-hour set at its Christmas Market. The church was filled with stalls and shoppers on the opening day of the Christmas Tree Festival. The choir was especially pleased to welcome two guest singers for a couple of songs — Bodmin’s mayor and deputy mayor!

Time Together and Community Cuppa

Joining the weekly Time Together friendship café in Shire House Suite was another wonderful community moment. The choir shared Silent Night with Makaton signing, and many in the audience joined in, before enjoying a special Christmas dinner together. The following day, the choir sang at Community Cuppa, the informal Thursday gathering in St Petroc’s Church.

Eden Project

A first for the choir was performing on a stage in the café linking the two Biomes at the Eden Project. A mix of traditional carols and jazzy Christmas songs was performed, including lively actions to Should Have Been a North Pole Elf, featuring the choir’s very own elf and Santa!

Organiser Emma Mansfield took time to offer words of encouragement to the children in the intergenerational choir before the performance.

Singing at the Eden Project during its spectacular Christmas lights display was an exciting and memorable experience.

Bodmin Town Band and Bodmin Way Community Choir Christmas Concert

Bodmin Town Band were beyond brilliant. The glorious sound of their music filled the church. The choir, depleted in number largely due to illness, sang six pieces from their Christmas repertoire.

The band performed an amazing arrangement of The Twelve Days of Christmas, with the choir singing along and enthusiastically performing the actions!

With community carol singing and an abundance of Christmas jumpers, the concert was a wonderful Christmas celebration.
