This grand celebration of music and community brings together primary schools from across Cornwall for an unforgettable experience. This year, Songfest pays homage to Cornwall's rich Celtic heritage and its deep-rooted connection to the sea. The theme is "Sea Shanties”. These captivating sea songs, steeped in maritime tradition, beautifully reflect Cornwall's enduring relationship with the vast blue expanse that surrounds it. Songfest is more than just a musical event; it's an opportunity for primary schools to unite and perform as a mass choir. It plays a crucial role in Songfest’s Vocal Delivery Strategy, emphasising the importance of music and singing within schools and communities. Under the skilful musical direction of Angela Renshaw and Patrick Bailey, these timeless sea shanties that encapsulate Cornwall's Celtic heritage will connect a new generation of children to the region's rich culture and history.
